Dark series released in 2017 is a german science-fiction mystery on Netflix that caught everyone’s attention for its amazing storyline and screenplay. The story travels along with the characters of a fictitious town, named Winden where mysterious kidnappings take place once every 33 years.
In 2019, when a young boy goes missing, the evil and sinful pasts about the town surfaces. Four families in the town get intertwined with the start and end of a time travel mystery through three generations and a parallel universe blissfully innocent.
2. ENTHIRAN (2010)

Enthiran (meaning Robot in English) is a 2010 Indian Tamil language sci-fi action movie penned and directed by Shankar. The story follows the struggle of a well-known AI scientist Vaseegaran (acted by Rajinikanth) to create and control his humanoid robot who is named Chitti (acted by Rajinikanth too).
When things take a turn for the worse after Chitti’s software is updated to give him the ability to understand and experience human emotions leading Chitti to fall in love with Vaseegaran’s girlfriend, Sana (acted by Aishwarya Rai). This leads Vaseegaran to disown Chitti while Bohra (acted by Denzongpa), a rival scientist, takes advantage and turns Chittiinto into becoming a homicidal bomb.
3. WESTWORLD (2016-)
Westworld is an American sci-fi thriller franchise that originated with the 1973 movie Westworld, which was written and directed by Michael Crichton. This movie portrays a technologically superior Wild-West-themed amusement park inhabited by androids that breakdown and begin killing the human visitors. This movie was followed by a sequel called Futureworld that was released in 1976.
The franchise relocated to television by a brief series called Beyond Westworld in the year 1980. After almost 35 years, In 2016 HBO announced a reboot of Westworld which was going to be based on the original movie Westworld. This show has successfully broadcast three seasons, with a fourth being in production and set to release soon.
4. BLACK MIRROR (2011-)
Black Mirror is a British dystopian sci-fi compilation tv show produced by Charlie Brooker. It explores and examines contemporary society, especially with regard to the unanticipated outcomes of new technologies and technological developments. The show is usually set in an alternative present or the near future, frequently with a sense of dark humor and ironic tone.
This sci-fi tv show has won eight Emmy Awards and three consecutive awards in the Outstanding Television Movie category so far.
5. STRANGER THINGS (2016-)
Stranger Things is an American sci-fi horror TV series created by the Duffer Brothers and released on Netflix. Stranger Things instantly gained appreciation and fan base for its characterization, fast-paced story, acting, soundtrack and background music, directing, and screenplay.
The show takes place in the fictional small town of Hawkins, Indiana, during the period of the early 1980s. The nearby Hawkins National Laboratory apparently has been performing scientific research secretly and experiment with the paranormal and mysterious on innocent children without consent. Accidentally, they have created a gateway to an alternate dimension which they call “the Upside Down”.
How a group of young friends get involved and try to solve this mystery is what we get to watch. With several twists and turns and interesting cliffhangers, this sci-fi show is definitely worth a watch!
6. V WARS
V Wars is a sci-fi tv show following a doctor/scientist Dr. Luther Swann played by Ian Somerhalder, and his best friend Michael Fayne, as they face a catastrophic crisis of a fatal outbreak that splits society into opposing sides from an outbreak provoked by an old biological contagious agent, a prion, that has the ability to turn humans into vampires, released from ice by climate change., possibly intensifying to a future war between humans and vampires.
In spite of a good storyline and a banger cliffhanger, unfortunately, this series was canceled for a season 2 in the march of 2020 due to various reasons leaving the fans in disappointment.
7. MANDALORIAN (2019-)
The Mandalorian (also known as Star Wars: The Mandalorian) is an American space-based sci-fi TV show that is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar since November 2019.
Set in the backdrop of the Star Wars universe, the series takes place five years after the events of Return of the Jedi in reference to Star Wars and follows a Mandalorian bounty hunter beyond the reaches of the New Republic. It is also the first live-action series in the Star Wars franchise.
8. NINE (2019)
Nine, an Indian Malayalam sci-fi movie is about a comet from an unknown galaxy is predicted to travel closely beside Earth which is said to cause a huge electromagnetic pulse surge and is projected to be last for nine days, during which time none of the latest inventions including electricity, the phone, engine vehicles will work anywhere around the globe.
Another special thing about this movie is it is the film that scores the first regional Indian film production and distribution of Sony Pictures.
9. SENSE EIGHT (2015-2018)
Sense 8 is an American sci-fi drama TV show created by Lana and Lilly Wachowski and J. Michael Straczynski for Netflix. The show follows a group of strangers all experiencing a rebirth that enigmatically connects them intellectually, emotionally, and sensually. They witness interactions and conversations from opposite planes of the world without the use of any devices bt by only using each other’s skills and capabilities, learning about each other.
Meanwhile, they are being pursued by an undercover group that wishes to lobotomize them in order to prevent an evolutionary path they do not wish to become humanity’s future. This fast-paced tv show is simply one of its kind with action, adventure, and fantasy.
10. ORPHAN BLACK (2013-2017)
Orphan Black is a Canadian sci-fi thriller television show by the screenwriter Graeme Manson and director John Fawcett
The series follows the lead Sarah Manning, a woman who seizes the identity of one of her fellow clones, Elizabeth Childs, after witnessing Childs’ suicide. The series raises issues about the ethical and humane connotations of human cloning and its effect on identity crisis.
